In Friedberg there is the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM, TH Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences). With its three locations in Friedberg, Gießen and Wetzlar, it is located in the middle of Germany and in the direct vicinity of the Rhine-Main region with its strong economy. It offers engineering and computer science courses from Bachelor’s to Master’s levels.

The International Office and the THM's Central Academic Advisory Service (Zentrale Studienberatung) offer various advisory services for refugees under the name Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterRefugee's Academic Home (REACH). Scientists who are refugees can contact REACH THM for advice and support.

BIKO is a counselling center for students with a focus on intercultural conflicts. It supplements the existing anti-discrimination services on gender equality and for students with a chronic disease or disability. BIKO offers personal counselling, including empowerment training.
