There has been a WIR Coordinator in the Wetterau district since 2014. This position is funded by the "WIR" project of the state of Hesse. Its central tasks are the intercultural openness and diversity management.
It helps ensure equal access to the services of the district administration for all citizens. This also means that the district administration reflects the diversity of Wetterau society in its composition and adapts its actions accordingly.
For the Wetteraukreis, intercultural openness and diversity management are great resources and they are important in orientating the administration in an innovative, effective and sustainable way. The Wetterau district has made this public by signing the charter of diversity.
Furthermore, the WIR Coordinator networks and advises civil society, associations, organizations and companies on the above-mentioned topics.
Tasks of the WIR Coordinator are:
- Building a culture of welcome and recognition
- Intercultural openness at public administrations, organizations and associations
- Advice and further training on diversity management and intercultural openness
- Coordination and organization of innovative projects
